Jukka Eskola is a leading Finnish jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader, widely recognized as one of the key instrumental voices of his generation. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has established an international presence through his distinctive sound, strong melodic approach, and versatile musicianship.
Eskola is known for leading several acclaimed ensembles, including the Jukka Eskola Quintet, Jukka Eskola Orquesta Bossa, and Jukka Eskola Soul Trio, as well as for his role in The Five Corners Quintet, one of Finland’s most internationally successful jazz groups. He has released multiple albums as a leader, earning critical acclaim and solidifying his position on the global jazz scene. His recent work includes Nordic Stew, a celebrated collaboration with saxophonist Timo Lassy and top-tier musicians from the New Orleans jazz tradition.
In addition to his work as a bandleader, Eskola is an in-demand soloist with orchestras and big bands, and an experienced session musician featured on over 200 recordings across jazz, pop, and television productions. He has performed and recorded with numerous internationally renowned artists.
Eskola’s contributions to Finnish jazz have been recognized with several major awards, including the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation, the Sony Jazz Award, and Artist of the Year at the Pori Jazz Festival.
